Teaching Practice
Training Future General Practitioners
We are a training practice for registrars who wish to become GP’s. Registrars are fully qualified experienced doctors undergoing twelve months' training at the practice under the tuition of a qualified trainer.
Medical Students
At Plas Meddyg we have a contract with Cardiff University where undergraduate medical students are attached to the practice in their final year of study. They stay at the practice for six weeks, and are given the opportunity to learn about the general medical practice environment before going on to become junior hospital doctors.
Medical students are required to sit in on consultations and may consult themselves under the supervision of their clinical tutor. You will be told at the time of your appointment whether a student will be sitting in with the doctor.
Junior doctors on Placement
We occasionally have a junior doctor from Glan Clwyd Hopital on placement for a few months and you may be asked if you would like to see him/her. They are qualified doctors who are gaining experience in general practice.
If you do not wish to have a student or junior doctor undertake or sit in on your consultation please let the receptionist know before you go in to your appointment.
